Arguments based on evidence has always been the hallmark of an educated person; Wisdom however, has always been more demanding. By definition, it is an acquired knowledge and skill for discernment and judgement combined with honesty as a constant and steadfast guide. Henry David Thoreau also said that it is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things – TARP comes to mind in this case.

In this article by Krugman, one can see a bias or pattern in our present situation. In spite of the evidence, the establishment and media have been  harping on these issues for awhile now. I am referring to the issues of outsourcing, visas for high skilled workers, TARP and many others. What they all have in common are Big Corporate Interests.

America has always been proud of Democracy as a defining principle of its government. A distinctive characteristic of this principle is the idea of a countervailing force. It is an idea that has been challenged as evidenced by the Supreme Court landmark decision of Citizens United versus Federal Election Commission and the continuous attack of corporate influence on the media and all three branches of government – executive, legislative and judiciary.

That being said. It is difficult to argue for the disadvantaged and disenfranchised. Like I mentioned in one of Krugman’s articles; “Education is clearly the key. In the USA however, it is a dysfunctional feature in the lower strata of society. A travesty that has contributed to the breakdown of society as we know it. I believe it is a situation that is strongly influenced by a reality that has persisted and morphed in various guises; a century old reality that finds expression in the slave culture mentality. This reality becomes a debilitating feature when you have other segments of the lower strata who are beyond this mindset.

“The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your MIND.” Kahlil Gibran
